Two weeks ago, my mom had a small heart attack. About as minor as these things go, turned out it was caused by an anatomical weirdness that they found when they did an angiogram, and not by artery blockage (the usual cause). Scary for a couple of days, but she was doing ok.
Today she went for a follow-up check -- the bruise from the angiogram wasn't healing quite right, so they did some tests, and -- in trying to solve that problem, they either caused a blood clot in her leg, or made problematic one that the angiogram had caused -- and so this afternoon she had emergency surgery to remove the clot. Seems to be doing okay. Seems like things will be fine. She'll be in the hospital a few days, and hopefully not again anytime soon.
Beyond that, I haven't blogged about some funny sketches sort of about the economy that I've been writing with a friend and that we're making plans to film soon, and then throw up online somewhere. I haven't blogged about the latest revision of my Anonymous Lawyer screenplay, or a book project I've started to work on. I haven't blogged about the secret anonymous blog I've been writing somewhere on the Internet, and I haven't blogged about any of the lousy television I've been watching. I haven't blogged about using FreshDirect for the first time, or about my new Sonicare toothbrush. I haven't blogged about making hamantaschen filling from scratch, and I haven't blogged about my upcoming fantasy baseball auction. All of these things would have made for boring posts, so it's probably a good thing I haven't blogged about them.
After spending about 10 hours in the hospital today with my mom, in waiting rooms, and then with my mom again, I need to go to sleep now.
