I got an e-mail asking me to publicize this, and it seems worthwhile, so in case anyone's interested:
The American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL), one of the premier professional organizations composed of the best trial lawyers in the U.S. and Canada, announces its sponsorship of an essay contest for law students on the topic of “Judicial Independence and the Separation of Powers Doctrine.” The contest’s first place and second place winners will receive cash prizes of $10,000 and $5,000, respectively. The contest is open to all students at law schools in the United States (including those studying for their J.D., L.L.M, or other graduate degrees). Essays, which should be approximately 5,000 words, are due by March 1, 2007 and can be submitted by e-mail at [email protected]. For more information, visit www.actl.com.
