I can't BELIEVE they sent Dale home instead of Lisa. I think Dale is the first reality TV contestant I've felt really bad for post-elimination -- he so clearly seemed the better chef and the better person. Of course, not like we have any idea what the food really tastes like... but still -- I was so rooting for him to win the whole thing.
Also, regular readers may recall I called David Cook as the American Idol winner weeks and weeks ago.
So I'm 1 for 2.
I would try and call the winner of something else, but there aren't any other reality shows I watch. Except "The Paper" on MTV, but there are no winners there. Have I blogged about "The Paper"? You should check it out. It's good stuff.
I was shocked, too. Lisa is such a whiner... and her food wasn't even close to Dale's. That was a real shame.
It's pretty clear thought that she and Spike won't be long for the show... Antonia, Stephanie and Richard are obviously *much* better chefs.

I also cannot believe they sent Dale home. It sooooo should have been Lisa or Spike.

Dale was the executive chef of their restaurant and therefore bore the brunt of the responsibility for putting dishes on the menu that were conceptually bad ideas. While Lisa failed in execution (and personality), Dale was a poor manager. And being a restaurant chef is more about planning menus and managing people than about cooking the food. That said (based on what we saw in the show), the judges would have been justified in giving either Dale or Lisa the boot last night.

In the age of Tivo and DVR, at least give a little SPOILER alert!

In memory of Dale I had made the ribs that let him win the tailgate episode. By far the best top chef recipe I've ever made.

While I don't care much for any of the three that were up for elimination, Dale had to go. 1) He was the GM and ultimately responsible; 2) He is a one-trick pony--i.e. Asian food--and couldn't successfully pull off some great Asian food during restaurant week; 3) well I don't have a third point, but Lisa and Spike aren't far behind.
